IAI invests in new laser technology

June 14th, 2010

IAI industrial systems B.V. has acquired a high power excimer laser system, named Sirius 1000, from the Nederlands Centrum voor Laser Research (NCLR) B.V. located in Enschede.

IAI also took over several employees and acquired a license to reproduce the laser for any industrial application that might benefit from the deployment of this laser.

The Sirius 1000 is a unique gas discharge laser combining high average output power of 1.000 Watts UV and an excellent beam quality. This makes the laser a very suitable tool for efficient material processing.

IAI is an expert in incorporating lasers and optical technology in innovative industrial material-processing applications, such as in security printing, in solar wafer and module production and in special systems for other markets.

IAI can offer application development on the Sirius 1000 laser. If successful, IAI can design, supply, install and maintain production systems incorporating the Sirius 1000 laser.

This investment again confirms IAI´s ambition to supply production equipment, adding high value to the customer´s production, based on laser and optical technology.

New security systems under development

June 11th, 2010

IAI is developing new desktop systems for decentral personalisation of ID cards and passports.

One of the systems under development is a new CardMaster Desk system.IAI supplied project specific CardMaster Desk systems for the personalisation of the Bulgarian ID card and driving license in 2009 and 2010. The new CardMaster Desk will have more (optional) functionalities.

Functionalities will be the reading of pre-printed information such as a number or barcode, the laser engraving of the front and back side of ID-1 sized cards, application of CLI or MLI feature, chip encoding of contact(less) chip and the verification of applied features. The system is expected in this autumn.

Also under development is a BookMaster Desk system for decentralised personalisation of passports with a polycarbonate data page. The BookMaster Desk system will be launched by the end of 2010.

IAI will supply extra systems for passport personalisation to existing customers

May 28th, 2010

Technology company IAI industrial systems in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, a subsidiary of the stock listed company DOCDATA N.V. in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, will supply two additional BookMaster One systems to personalise passports.

The systems will be supplied to existing customers who already have identical systems in operation and are expected to be delivered in 2010. With the extra systems both countries intend to enlarge their existing production capacity.

BookMaster One systems perform the entire personalisation of the passport in one pass through the machine including quality control of all processing done. Thus, the systems turn blank books, inserted in the machine, into fully personalised passports ready for issuing.

Being a leading equipment supplier to the Security Printing market, IAI industrial systems also supplies systems for securing and/or personalisation of ID-cards, driver licences, banknotes, diplomas and other security documents.

IAI´s systems are in use in many countries such as: Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Ireland, UK, Sweden, China, Russia, Ukraine, Canada, Portugal, Estonia, Costa Rica, Poland, Morocco, South Africa and India. Other systems are planned to be installed in several other countries.

Technology company IAI industrial systems also offers laser processing systems for producers of solar cells or modules.

IAI will market innovative laser drilling systems for the production of nozzle holes in diesel injection systems.

May 10th, 2010

Technology company IAI industrial systems B.V. in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, a subsidiary of the stock listed company DOCDATA N.V. in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, has entered into an agreement with the technology developing company PreLaTec GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany, for production and marketing of innovative laser drilling systems, which enable drilling of nozzle holes for diesel injection systems in motors for the private car mass market.

The technology has been developed at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, Germany, in several years of cooperation with diesel injection systems manufacturers and motor development companies and enables the drilling of nozzle holes with extensive free hole geometry. By application of this technology, improvements in motor, environment and consumption characteristics in a broad power range of diesel motors can be expected. Next to purpose-made optical components a powerful high-tech single line laser is used which was originally developed on IAI´s initiative for the application of security features in banknotes.

IAI expects that with this innovative laser drilling system a new and lasting market segment for the coming years can be entered and exploited. IAI will market the laser drilling systems and the related maintenance under its own name and responsibility. Orders for pilot equipment are expected already in the running year.
